  • OpenAI initiates Red Teaming Network to make its models more robust 🎯

OpenAI has launched the OpenAI Red Teaming Network, a group of experts contracted to help with AI model risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Red teaming can catch biases and safety issues in AI models. If you're a domain expert, you're invited to pitch in, no prior AI experience is required. Members of the Red Teaming Network can engage with each other on red teaming practices and findings. Opportunities might be subject to non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements.

  • Intel’s power play: New chips, supercomputers, and a battle for AI dominance 🔥

Intel is pulling out all the stops to challenge Nvidia's reign in the AI world. They're making their main CPUs faster with AI tech, so they work really well with their special Gaudi chips.

    1. Intel's Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) is set to debut on December 14th, complete with integrated AI acceleration powered by a neural processing unit. 📆

    2. 5th-gen Xeon Scalable server processors will also launch on Dec. 14. Future generation will include a 288-core CPU (in 2024). 💻️

    3. Intel will build a large AI supercomputer with Xeon and Gaudi2 processors for Stability AI. 🖥️

    4. The Intel Developer Cloud platform is now available, giving access to the latest Intel chips. Project Strata, a commercial software platform for building edge infrastructure will come in 2024. 🤝

  • TikTok debuts new tools and technology to label AI content 📽️

TikTok has exciting updates! Creators can now tag their videos made with AI, and TikTok's trying out automatic AI tagging. This helps stop confusion and false content. They're also changing the names of AI effects and sharing educational info about AI. TikTok is following industry trends by labeling AI content for transparency and addressing worries about deepfakes and manipulated videos. 🌟👩‍🏫

  • Microsoft AI researchers unintentionally exposed terabytes of data🙈

Oops! Microsoft AI researchers accidentally shared sensitive data on GitHub. This included private keys, passwords, and even personal backups, totaling 38 terabytes! It happened because of a misconfigured URL. But don't worry, Microsoft fixed it and added more security to prevent future issues. Your data is safe. 🔒

  • Google’s Bard chatbot can now tap into your Google apps, double-check answers and more 🥊

Bard now lets you double-check its answers, collaborate with others, and integrate with Google's own apps and services. Bard Extensions are available for integration with Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights and hotels. Users have control over opting in and can revoke permissions at any time. Personal data from Gmail, Drive, and Docs is not used for reinforcement learning and is not accessible to human reviewers. The 'Google it' button now integrates with Google search to validate Bard's responses.

  • OpenAI’s goal is to introduce a "Multi-Modal" model before Google's Gemini 🤖

OpenAI is getting ready to introduce its Gobi model, which combines text and images for better tasks like telling stories from pictures and answering questions about visuals. Initially, they were cautious about who could use it, but now they're opening it up more. Google's Gemini has its own special data, which could make it better. OpenAI's CEO talked about improving GPT-4 and mentioned that Gobi might become GPT-5, but we're not sure yet. This is like the iPhone vs. Android rivalry but in the world of AI, and people are excited to see what happens! 🔥

  • OpenAI introduces "gpt-3.5-turbo-instruct", a direct question-answering` and text-completion language model

OpenAI introduces "gpt-3.5-turbo-instruct", a new instruction language model that is as efficient as the chat-optimized GPT-3.5 Turbo. The new model replaces several previous Instruct models and language models that will be retired in January 2024. The model's training data is current as of September 2021. Instruct models are large language models that are refined through human feedback (RLHF) after being pre-trained with a large amount of data. OpenAI's tests have shown that people prefer an InstructGPT model with 1.3B parameters to a GPT model with 175B parameters, even though it is 100 times smaller.
