  • OpenAI’s ChatGPT now has a Canva Plugin for enhanced visuals 🤝

OpenAI's ChatGPT has teamed up with Canva, offering an effortless way to design visual content for businesses and entrepreneurs. Whether it's logos or banners, just tell ChatGPT what you need and edit the results in Canva. 🎨 The best part? This feature is reserved for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, adding more value to the service. This collaboration is part of OpenAI's ongoing effort to meet diverse user demands and stay competitive. 🏆

  • Zoom introduces AI Companion, a new AI assistant for paid users🚀

Zoom has rolled out a new feature called AI Companion, exclusively for its paid users. This smart assistant aids in drafting chat responses, auto-summarizing meetings, crafting emails, and even managing smart recordings. It's compatible with various AI models like Meta Llama 2, OpenAI, and Anthropic. Stay tuned for more functions like scheduling and task management coming this Fall. Zoom aims to make AI easily accessible, especially for tedious tasks that no one enjoys. 👩‍💻

  • Meta’s AI drama: Internal feuds over computing power 🥊

Many scientists and engineers who worked on Llama quit due to an internal battle over computing resources with another research team. The shortage of computing power in developing generative AI poses challenges for big tech companies. More than half of the 14 authors of the original Llama research paper published in February 2023 have left the company, several for AI startups or other big companies. 🏢

  • Japan’s prefectural governments adopting or trialing ChatGPT for work purposes 🏢

Key Japanese prefectures, namely Tokyo, Fukushima, and Tochigi, are actively adopting or evaluating ChatGPT for workplace applications. Tokyo’s Metropolitan Government has even greenlit its use for 50,000 employees for tasks such as document summaries and idea proposals. The technology is spreading rapidly, capturing over half of the nation's prefectures, mainly in the eastern areas.

  • Stanford study uncovers biases in AI text detectors affecting non-native English speakers 🗣️

Stanford researchers have found significant flaws in AI systems designed to detect machine-generated text. These systems frequently mislabel content from non-native English speakers, including TOEFL test-takers, as AI-generated. Such errors could adversely affect academic and professional arenas, like job applications and student assignments. Funding came from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. 📚🔍

  • AI algorithm learns microscopic details of nematicity in moiré systems 🔬

Researchers have harnessed the power of AI to delve deep into the microscopic details of "nematicity" in complex moiré systems, specifically twisted bilayer and double bilayer graphene structures. Utilizing convolutional neural networks (CNN), the AI was trained to identify characteristics of nematicity distinct from strain. This opens up new possibilities to better understand and manipulate special materials, potentially leading to groundbreaking discoveries.

After showing the experimental DOS images with strong nematicity, the CNN returned physical parameters that generated the theoretical equivalent LDOS maps. In one of the maps, we see the strong and characteristic stripes of nematicity.

  • Crypto vs. AI scams: A warning from Quantstamp 🛡️

Richard Ma, the co-founder of Quantstamp, raises the alarm about how AI is making scammers more cunning, putting crypto enterprises at higher risk. AI-backed phishing scams are increasingly convincing and pose a real danger. To counter this, Ma advises using internal communication over email or text and investing in anti-phishing software. The scale and sophistication of AI-led attacks are growing concerns, even as altcoins like Solana show resilience.

💰 Investment Highlights
